6 people wounded: BNP cadres illegally seized land of a minority family at Bagherhat

Bagherhat, 5th February, 2002:
A group of miscreants identified as the ruling party cadres attacked a minority family at Chitalmari subdistrict under Bagherhat. They seized the land of the minority family and placed a signboard of the party there. The ruling party cadres went on rampage at Chitalmari to grab the land of the destitute minority family and seriously injuring at least 6 members of the family. According to locals, Monday afternoon a group of 50 to 60 miscreants armed with lethal weapons led by the president of Jatiotabadi Mahiladal" (a women wing of BNP) Ms. Minara Aktar attacked the house of Mr. Shibnath Kirtania at Kuraltala village of Chitalmari bazaar.
They immediately illegally seized the land of Mr. Shibnath and elevated the signboard of "Jatiotabadi Mahiladal" there.
While resisted by the minority family, miscreants attacked the family members with ax, mallet and sword seriously injuring Shibnath Kirtania (70), Banalatha Kirtania (55), Charulatha Kirtania (35), Nipun Kirthania (15) and Nikhil. Latter seriously wounded victims were sent to local hospitals. No arrest has been made yet.
