Filed by the reporter from Kusthia: A religious minority family in the Daulatpur area of Kusthia now feels totally insecure and helpless after the gang rape attack on their 14 year old girl. The home of this low-income family was attacked last Saturday at 11 PM. The assailants brandished their guns at the parents and their daughter. Then they grabbed the fourteen-year-old by force and took her away to some isolated grounds in the same vicinity. The overnight torture and repeated gang rape of this minor girl followed this. The rapists later left the unconscious body of the girl there and the locals discovered her at dawn. They took her to the Daulatpur Health Centre for medical treatment. Subsequently, the girl was kept in Daulatpur police station for her own safety. Two of the rapists known as Alauddin Mandal and Abdul Malik come from well to do local families. As a result, the victim’s family feels afraid to bring any charges against the two men.
