Staff Reporter: The reports and allegations of kidnap
of minority girls, land gabbing and atrocities against the minority
community have proven to be true due to the investigation spearheaded
by Rabindra Ghosh, convenor of Human Rights Congress for Bangladesh
Minorities (HRCBM)- Bangladesh. Mr. Ghosh has visited ground zero,
talked with police, local and district administrations, eye- witnesses
and victims to investigate the allegations of kidnap, land grabbing
and atrocities against minority community. The news of land gabbing
at Khalashkali, torture on mother and son at Kaliganj, kidnap
of Moushumi Chatterjee at Sathkira town and land grabbing of minority
property in the name of enemy property at kaliganj are proven
to be true due to investigation of HRCBM.
According to Mr. Ghosh's report local member of parliament (MP),
leader of Jamait-I-Islami (ruling coalition partner) and members
and chairmen of Union Parishad are directly involved in the incidents.
Mr. Ghosh continued the investigation of ongoing atrocities against
minorities on 21st June and 22nd June, 2002.
Khalishkali: A group of miscreants attacked the house of Mrs.
Dipti Rani Chatterjee (50) to grab the landlord house in broad
daylight carrying false "power of attorney" document.
The miscreants force their way into the house taking possession
of it and letting the owner out in the open. The miscreants also
ordered the Mrs. Dipti Rani and her family to leave the country
and go to India.
While reported in the newspaper, police removed the miscreants
from the house and returned it to Mrs. Dipti Rani but yet Chatterjee
family is under constant pressure to be evicted out. It is to
be noted that the investigating officer of local police station
Mr. Rohul Amin Mullah (Sub Inspector) of Tala police station has
sided with the miscreants. The miscreants already confiscated
part of the house building using false "power of attorney".
The local member of Union Parishad one Mehaer has forcefully taken
the passport of Mrs. Dipti Rani and ordered her eviction.
Kaliganj: To grab the house of Govindadas Sardar of Fetapur
under Kaliganj the leader of Jamiat-I-Islami (ruling coalition
partner) Musammel Ali Gaji ordered his terrorists cadres to beaten
up Mr. Sardar and his mother Mrs. Shundhari Sarder. The news of
atrocity against Sarder family was published in various daily
on 6th June, 2002. Handcuffed with rope mother and son were dragged
out of their house to another house where they were held keptive.
Latter police rescued them. The Jamait party leader Musammel wanted
to grabb the land and house of Sardar family and evict them from
the country.
Local BNP and Jamiat leaders are angry on the matter that a case
was being filed in the local police station.
Kidnap: Maushumi Chatterjee of Sathkira town and a student
of class X was kidnapped by one Abdul Alim son of Abdul Matin
on June 22nd, 2002. It is reported that Abdul Alim is a student
of local Madrasa (Islamic Religious School). During writing this
report, police was unable to rescue Moushumi Chatterjee. The miscreants
have demanded a ransom of Taka 500000.00. A General Diary (GD)
is being filed at the local police station. The miscreants are
now threatening Chatterjee family to withdraw the case or face
dire consequence.
Kaliganj land gabbing: The local Union Parishad Chairmen of kaliganj
has forcefully confiscated a huge quantity of minority lands at
Kaliganj. He claims those lands are Enemy (Hindu) Property (Vested
Property) and under law he reserves the right to confiscate the
land as being political party leader.
